Mumbai :Malad – The KEM Health Post in Malwani, located at Gate No. 6, is facing a shortage of essential medicines for skin diseases. Despite providing treatment for skin conditions on Tuesdays with the help of interns and senior doctors from KEM Hospital, the health post is struggling to meet the demand for medicines.

The shortage of Itraconazole 100mg capsules has left patients with no choice but to purchase the medication from outside, resulting in a significant financial burden. This is particularly challenging for the predominantly low-income patients who visit the health post, including laborers, vendors, and contract workers.

The health post’s location in a densely populated area like Malwani, where poor sanitation and inadequate water supply contribute to the prevalence of skin diseases, makes the situation even more dire.

*Concerns:*

– Why is the KEM administration not addressing the medicine shortage issue?

– Why are patients being forced to buy medicines from outside despite the health post’s inability to provide them?

*Financial Burden:*

– The shortage of Itraconazole 100mg capsules has resulted in an additional financial burden of approximately ₹1,000 per month for patients.
